Umpire Request/Confirm and Self-Assignment

A league has three options for determining how umpires are assigned:

1. Assigning by the umpire coordinator only.
2. Request/Confirm - an umpire can request games to officiate, and the umpire coordinator confirms the request
3. Self-Assign - an umpire can self-assign to officiate a match.

Under options 2 & 3 the umpire coordinator can of course still assign umpires. (See League Umpire Settings under Options).

Umpire Request/Confirm

An Umpire can request any game listed in All Umpire Assignments that is within his or her comfort level (See Umpire Strength in the Umpire Coordinator chapter) by clicking onI'd Like It. When a game is requested, an email is sent to the umpire coordinator and the field umpire coordinator (if any is assigned) for the field on which the game will be played. When the umpire coordinator views All Umpire Assignments, any game that has requests will have a Requested button. Clicking on the button will display all umpires who have requested that game. Each request is date and time stamped. The umpire coordinator can choose one of the requesters or someone else. Email will be sent to the umpire confirming the assignment.

Umpire Self-Assignment

An Umpire can self-assign to any game listed in All Umpire Assignments that is within his or her comfort level (See Umpire Strength in the Umpire Coordinator chapter) by clicking the I'll Take It. The umpire coordinator will get an email each time a game is self-assigned. Of course, the umpire coordinator can always override a self-assignment.
